E-FAST recently conducted first aid training at Mount Pleasant Football Academy in St. Ann, Jamaica, and instructors were pleased to see that the institution was taking seriously the need to have AEDs within reach. AEDs, Automated External Defibrillators, are portable medical devices that deliver an electric shock to a heart that has stopped beating unexpectedly. It is a crucial first aid device that can save lives if used quickly and correctly while more medical help is on the way to help an ailing casualty.
At Mount Pleasant Academy, AEDs were on hand in areas such as the cafeteria and the nurses’ station, and plans are in place to install more units across the campus.

On September 7, 2022, E-FAST trained 17 members of staff at Mount Pleasant Academy, including coaches, teachers, administrators, and medical personnel.
